Arconic is currently in search of an EHS Coordinator to join our Global Rolled Product (GRP Operations business unit in Lancaster, PA.
Lancaster Works specializes in aluminum sheet and cast plate. At our 1.3 million square-foot plant, we offer a variety of products--from painted sheet to blanked products. What we produce here is found in a wide assortment of end products, such as truck cabs, cookware and construction materials. We also produce brazing sheet used by auto manufacturers to make evaporator and condenser components. Another capability, for which we are well known, is the production of machined cast plate used in a number of diverse products, ranging from robotics to medical instruments.
The EHS Coordinator is responsible for a wide variety of EHS activities in various production and maintenance departments. The incumbent will assist in providing a safe work place for employees and contractors by assessing risk, identifying countermeasures, developing sustainable management systems, providing training, monitoring processes and metrics. This Operations EHS Coordinator reports to the Operations Manager with dotted line accountability to the EHS Manager.
Develop a wide-range of comprehensive EHS systems that support Arconic’ s commitment of zero environmental non-compliances and an injury-free workplace.
Audit and coach compliance to ASAT, ISO14001, and other EHS regulatory and compliance programs.
Monitor, track and report key EHS Metrics
Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Assist with accident/ incident investigations to ensure root cause analysis and identification.
Develop and tracking of corrective actions, acts as a change agent for the area.
Support departmental changes as EHS resources on all ABS events.
Develop departmental EHS plan through use of A-3 methodology each 90 days.
Coach the Team to recognize that accident and injury prevention are core values in the organization and will not be sacrificed for production, quality, delivery, recovery, cost control.
Will ensure full utilization of Arconic’s Supervisory Excellence (ASE) principles and Human Performance (HP) and Organizational Performance principles (HP).
Work closely with support resources to ensure the EHS needs of the teams are being met.
Monitor all EHS improvement activities and takes action to capture savings in the DI system.
Coordinate and implement training for hourly and salaried employees, to include an assessment of training effectiveness and employee competence
Develop Team EHS Star Point Coordinators from their respected areas.
Lead multi-disciplinary teams to make process improvements and reduce risk of injury, through the use of ABS Stability tools.
Coordinate, develop, or conduct: Safety orientation with new hires or employees who have transferred into the department, department safety training among all teams, III/EEE investigations and reviews, area SOP/SJP’s creation
Attend team meetings, ensuring that team meetings are occurring and are being led by Lead Operators with engagement from Team Star Points, coaching the team to perform in a cohesive manner and drive continuous improvement across all EHS metrics.
Works with a wide variety of employees at all levels of the organization including external to Lancaster to increase awareness and understanding of EHS objectives, including training, coaching, and developing team members.
Minimum Years of Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering Degree, Industrial Safety Degree from an accredited institution
Requires excellent team building skills
Ability to translate corporate and plant business objectives into meaningful and achievable EHS goals for the department.
Operational knowledge regarding process, equipment capability, practices, systems.
Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be results oriented.
Demonstrates good computer skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills
Strong decision making and problem solving skills
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization.
Able to work flexible hours as required
Minimum Education Required:
High School or GED
Minimum Travel Required:
High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
A minimum of 3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
