General Summary:

The Behavior Consultant II (BC) conducts descriptive and systematic behavioral assessments and provides behavior analytic interpretations of the results with supervision from a BCBA. The BC designs and supervises behavior analytic interventions. The BC is able to effectively develop and implement appropriate assessment and intervention methods for use in unfamiliar situations and for a range of cases. The BC teaches others to carry out ethical and effective behavior analytic interventions based on published research once the BC has demonstrated competency with the procedures involved under the direct supervision of a BCBA. The BC designs and delivers instruction under the supervision of a BCBA. BCs supervise the work of Behavior Technicians (BT) that are non-certified.

Program Description:

Located in Lancaster County, the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities (CADD) is a regional center of excellence that serves patients and families in Central Pennsylvania. We have a multidisciplinary team (from the fields of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, applied behavior analysis, social work, and counseling) with recognized expertise in the treatment of the social, emotional, and behavioral issues affecting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disability (ID). We offer center-based services, which include diagnostic evaluations, short-term consultation and ongoing treatment. In addition, we provide community-based services, which include ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) behavioral treatment in the home, school, and community for children and adults.

Required Skills

  • Analytical skills are necessary for the collection and assessment of psychosocial data, interpretation of these data and the ongoing review of treatment efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ability to observe patient behavior and dynamics in order to prepare and review written documentation as required.

  • Knowledge of and ability in the care and management of the unique needs of children and adolescents with developmental disorders.

  • Must demonstrate a strong professional interest in being a part of a multidisciplinary team that specializes in the assessment and treatment of the social, emotional and behavioral needs of children and adolescents with developmental disorders such as mental retardation and the autism spectrum disorders.

  • Must be able to provide own transportation from one client to another.

Required Experience

  • A master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology or a master’s of social work.

  • Course work in Behavioral Modification Techniques is preferred.

  • Licensure required: LBS, LPC, LSW, LCSW or LMFT.

  • BCBA or BCaBA certification or commitment to pursuing ABA certification

  • At least one year of experience in providing behavioral modification services to children and adolescents and experience in developing/implementing behavioral modification treatment plans.

  • Interpersonal verbal and listening skills are required to communicate effectively with patients and families and with other inter-agency team members.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and qualify for WellSpan Philhaven driving privileges.

  • Must obtain PA drivers’ license in accordance with PA laws if license upon hire is out-of-state.
