Maintenance Mechanic (2nd shift) - 18814 DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Position Summary To ensure an efficient manufacturing operation through the cost-effective repair of down equipment and timely preventative maintenance of all equipment. To control the work repair order system, maintain a spare parts inventory and act as a resource to the manufacturing departments in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations. Columbia, PA Key Duties / Responsibilities Essential duties are identified by asterisks. 1. Utilizes the work order system to schedule all repair jobs. Keeps paperwork neat and organized. Consults with management relative to required parts, time and priority. 2. Performs equipment repairs in accordance with work order requests. Schedules, in conjunction with Production Management and Production Services, repairs using a priority system and performs repairs in a cost effective manner. 3. Performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on all production equipment in conjunction with Maintenance Technician. 4. Monitors parts inventory to ensure minimal interruptions of equipment operation. Assists Maintenance Technician with inventory recommendations relative to quantity and type. 5. Assists Production Management in establishing maintenance training and preventative maintenance procedures. 6. Coordinates the scheduling of outside service contractors with Production Management when required. 7. Assists Production Management in assessing equipment replacement needs. Acts as a resource relative to equipment capabilities and enhancements. 8. Assists in the installation of new equipment including the unloading and locating of equipment, installation and follow up with regard to proper operation. 9. Monitors manufacturing compliance to safety standards. Recommends improvements to standards or operations. 10. Assists Facility Maintenance personnel as schedule permits. Education & Knowledge Required High School graduate or G.E.D. Previous equipment maintenance experience required. Press or bindery equipment maintenance experience desirable. Experience / Skills / Abilities Required Must possess mechanical aptitudes relative to equipment repair, trouble shooting, preventative maintenance and enhancements. Able to work with minimum supervision and plan work load effectively. Good communication and effective interaction skills. Communication & Contacts Required Internal - All facility personnel. External - Service Contractors, retail suppliers, and equipment vendors.
